In Novem­ber 2015, over one hun­dred CEO´s over Iceland­ic com­pan­ies signed a de­clar­a­tion in the spir­it of the Par­is Agree­ment. This big achieve­ment caught the at­ten­tion of people all over the world, and it was in­tro­duced on the COP meet­ing in Par­is that year.

The Climate Agreement

The declaration is called “Loftslagsyfirlýsing Festu og Reykjavíkuborgar” or in English, The Climate Declaration of Festa and the City of Reykjavík. By signing the declaration, companies are making a commitment to:

  • Reduce the release of greenhouse gases
  • Reduce waste
  • Measure and report on a regular basis on these two issues above

Festa and the City of Reykjavík have together provided support, education and knowledge to the participants as well as providing a tool to measure the carbon footprint of their.

In 2019 the municipality of Akureyri signed The Climate Declaration along with over 20 companies and institutions from the area.

February 2021 the municipality of Hornafjörður signed The Climate Declaration along with over 20 companies and institutions from the area.

    The Climatepulse

    The Climatepulse is a tool that Festa has made available, free of charge, for anyone interested in measuring and reducing their carbon footprint. It is updated once a year by specialists in the field and is established on international standards and data.
