In Novem­ber 2015, over one hun­dred CEO´s over Ice­land­ic com­pan­ies signed an agree­ment in the spir­it of the Par­is Agree­ment. This big achieve­ment caught the at­ten­tion of people all over the world, and it was in­tro­duced on the COP meet­ing in Par­is that year.

The Cli­mate Agree­ment

The agree­ment is called “Loftslag­sy­firlýsing Festu og Reyk­javíkubor­gar” or in Eng­lish, The Cli­mate Agree­ment of Festa and the City of Reyk­javík. By sign­ing the agree­ment, com­pan­ies are mak­ing a com­mit­ment to:

  • Re­duce the re­lease of green­house gases
  • Re­duce waste
  • Meas­ure and re­port on a reg­u­lar basis on these two is­sues above

Festa and the City of Reyk­javík have to­geth­er provided sup­port, edu­ca­tion and know­ledge to the par­ti­cipants as well as provid­ing a tool to meas­ure the car­bon foot­print of their.

In 2019 the mu­ni­cip­al­ity of Ak­ur­eyri signed The Cli­mate Agree­ment along with over 20 com­pan­ies and in­sti­tu­tions from the area.

    The Cli­mate­pulse is a tool that Festa has made avail­able, free of charge, for any­one in­ter­ested in meas­ur­ing and re­du­cing their car­bon foot­print. It is up­dated once a year by spe­cial­ists in the field and is es­tab­lished on in­ter­na­tion­al stand­ards and data.
